about
Thanks for checking out our new single! "Tonight" officially comes out on December 15th and will be available on all your favorite streaming services.
I made the initial demo for this track in early 2016 during a time when I was trying to write more traditional pop songs. That didn't work out so well for me, and I ended up scrapping a lot of stuff that I wrote that year, but this one always stuck for us.
We stripped back some of the synth pop elements, recorded guitars, bass and drums ourselves, and then beefed up the ending. The song ended up being a dreamy, electronic slowcore sway-along and is a transition toward the work we've been doing on our upcoming EP.
I repurposed the titular line from the E. E. Cummings poem "love is more thicker than forget," so I feel that I should credit him here.
Thanks again for listening to "Tonight." Let us know what you think!

lyrics
Don't wear that purple scented stuff tonight, baby.
It fucks me up, and I've been missing you too much lately.
But I can't be your crooked branch tonight.
And I can't twist myself into a shape that you won't mind.
It has been two weeks, and you can't recognize.
Oh, the myriad ways that I wasn't designed for you.
With every day I make my peace with those.
What's more, at last, I feel relief alone!
All of my friends, they're going out tonight, baby.
Don't hit me up because I've been missing you too much lately.
I can't be the source of your advice tonight.
And I can't twist myself up again, so if you don't mind:
Give it two months, and you'll have memorized.
Oh, the myriad ways that I wasn't designed for you.
You'll say, "Fuck that pain! I'd rather be alone!"
What's more, at last, you'll feel relief alone.
Well, love is thicker than forget
But ours is spread out to the edge,
And I have nothing left to say.
So stay your fingers from troubling me,
Stay your voice from calling my name,
Stay your memory, tonight.
All of my friends, we're going out. I don't want to see you there.
